Field Trips to the Funny Farm

Picture
Our hopes here at the Funny Farm is to educate young and old about basic agriculture and farming. We will teach you about caring for the animals, where your food comes from, and how to live a little less dependent on others.

Upon arrival, teachers will check in at the Funny Shed. We will then walk to the Funny Field where your field trip leader will explain the types of goats in the field, what they eat and drink, and how to properly care for them. We will discuss the donkeys here as well.

Next, we will move to the barn lot where your leader will talk about our unique cows, horses, and ponies. This will include discussion of beef and pork and where food comes from. Students will be able to pet each of the horses and ponies. If there are babies currently on the farm, they will be located in the barn lot and can be seen up close and personal.

Lastly, we’ll head up to the chicken coop to discuss the purpose of our hens and roosters and also ducks! The Scottish Highland cows are usually at this stop as well. We discuss the purpose of the land, the berries, and the hay.

We have an open area where students can eat their bagged school lunch and a couple picnic tables for the teachers to sit down and relax for a while.

Our gravel parking lot is large enough for school buses to get in and turn around.

Email or message us if you’d like to set up a private field trip!
